Topsail Island is a 26-mile long NC Barrier Island that is perfect for a relaxed vacation. If you like quiet beaches, the Topsail Island Beaches are just what you’re looking for. Accessible by two bridges, the Topsail Island consists of three towns; mostly residential North Topsail Beach, active Surf City and quiet Topsail Beach. Along with the mainland towns of Sneads Ferry and Holly Ridge they make up the Greater Topsail Area. There’s also Hammocks Beach State Park near Swansboro.

When you’re tired of soaking up the sun, and playing in the sand and surf, you will find there is a lots to do here. Many try their luck fishing from one of Topsail Island three piers. Scenic cruise on the Intracoastal Waterway are available and offer a view of the Topsail Island Beaches you may never have seen otherwise. Or learn about the area’s history as told by narrators dressed as pirates. Learn about the space program at the Missiles and More Museum. Tour nearby Camp Lejeune Marine Corps Base, or if you are a golfer, try you skill at one of the area’s excellent courses. Topsail Island is a sea turtle estuary, and the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center is an excellent educational visit. And check out the Topsail Island Beaches Turtle Project. The second weekend in August is a perfect time to be here for the Sneads Ferry Shrimp Festival, a delicious annual event.
