Rodanthe North Carolina

Rodanthe (ro-DANTH-ee) is a community located in a section of the North Carolina Outer Banks known as the Cape Hatteras National Shore in Dare County, on Hatteras Island. Originally Rodanthe, Salvo, and Waves were part of the settlement of Chicamacomico. Rodanthe includes the Chicamacomico museum. Originally a Life-Saving Station, that was decommissioned in 1954.

The town is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the East and the Pamlico Sound to the West. Rodanthe is the easternmost point of North Carolina.

There are no hotels in Rodanthe or the larger settlement of Chicamacomico. Large and small campgrounds as well as numerous rental houses are available.

The movie Nights in Rodanthe was partially filmed in the town of Rodanthe and included landmarks such as the Rodanthe Pier. The rental house, Serendipity was transformed into the fictional Inn at Rodanthe.
