Buxton is a community located in a section of the North Carolina
Outer Banks known as the Cape Hatteras National Shore in Dare County,
on Hatteras Island. Buxton is the location of the famous Hatteras
Lighthouse and links the community to other Outer Banks communities
such as Avon, Frisco,
and Hatteras.
Buxton is Hatteras Island’s local business hub with gas stations,
restaurants, grocery store, banks, fire station, EMS station and
a small US Post Office. There is also a US Coast Guard Station located
within Buxton.
