Beaufort is located on North Carolina's Crystal coast, with a population of about 3,771. It is the county seat of Carteret County, and home to the North Carolina Maritime Museum and the Duke University Marine Laboratory.

Blackbeard's ship the Queen Anne's Revenge was discovered here under 20 feet of water in the Beaufort Inlet in 1996.The Beaufort boardwalk by the water's edge is nice place to take a walk and and lots of gift shops and restaurants are there. Once you get there, walking, biking or boating are the best ways to get around and really enjoy what Beaufort has to offer.
